Where can you actually cut back?

Saving money needn’t mean stripping the life out of your wedding. Start with the things guests experience least: elaborate printed stationery, piles of favours and signage that tells people the obvious. A simpler invitation, one strong ceremony focal point and fewer throwaway extras can free up budget without changing how the day feels.
DIY is brilliant when it is small and manageable. When it requires you to spend your wedding morning assembling half the venue, it becomes another job. Cakes are similar: make yours delicious and memorable, but don’t pay for tiers you never wanted.
The guest list is often the biggest lever, because every additional person affects food, drink, space and staffing. Look at the shape of the day, too: longer doesn’t automatically mean better. Keep what adds atmosphere; let go of what is there purely because it is expected.
Put your money into the parts people really remember: good food and drink, music, a comfortable flow and time together. A carefully planned wedding doesn’t feel cut back. It feels considered.
